Airport passengers will reach 100 million in 2022

It is expected that in 2022, the passenger quantity through Vietnam’s airports will reach about 100 million passengers.

At the October 2022 briefing of the Ministry of Transport in the afternoon (October 24), Mr. Dinh Viet Thang, director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, said that in 10 months of 2022, passenger volume through airports in Vietnam reached more than 81 million visitors.

“It is forecasted that in 2022, the total number of passengers passing through Vietnam airports will reach 100 million compared to 120 million in 2019 (before the pandemic).

In terms of transport volume, in the first 10 months of the year, Vietnamese airlines transported 40 million passengers and it is expected that the total number of passengers transported in 2022 will reach 55 million,” Thang said.

According to Mr. Thang, in the past 10 months, the domestic market has experienced high growth, which is considered one of the best growth markets after the Covid-19 epidemic, but the international market has only recovered about 50%. .

“The restoration of flight routes in some key markets, especially China, is still facing difficulties due to the Covid-19 epidemic. The negotiation to reconnect the flight route with this market is being actively implemented.”

Some markets such as Korea, Japan, and Taiwan have opened, but travel demand is still very low,” Thang said, adding that the recovery results have not been as expected. However, the bright spot for the international market in the 10 months of 2022 is that we have opened the Indian market with a relatively positive shipping volume.
