Approving the planning of a military airport to become a specialized airport in Binh Phuoc

The Ministry of National Defense has approved the policy of planning a military airport in Hon Quan and Binh Phuoc districts to become a specialized airport.

According to Official Letter No. 3848 sent to Binh Phuoc Provincial People’s Committee, the Ministry of Defense approved the policy of planning Hon Quan military airport (Binh Phuoc) into a specialized airport at the request of the locality.

The Ministry of Defense proposed Binh Phuoc Provincial People’s Committee to implement the planning of the location of Hon Quan airport into the provincial planning, in line with the local socio-economic development master plan.

In addition, the Ministry of National Defense also asked Binh Phuoc province to make a dossier and send it to the Ministry to direct the appraisal agency, consult relevant ministries and branches and issue a decision approving the planning location of the specialized airport. Hon Quan according to the provisions of Decree 42/2016/ND-CP of the Government.

In 2021, when hearing that Binh Phuoc was planning a dual-use airport, “land storks” everywhere flocked to create a virtual land fever that turned the lives of local people upside down.

According to Decree 42 of the Government, a special-use airport is an area defined on the ground, a strip of water surface, an artificial structure used for aircraft, seaplanes, and helicopters operating for the purpose of serving the purpose. general aviation operation or the purpose of transporting passengers, luggage, goods or postal items without having to transport them to the public.

The location of Binh Phuoc airport planning was formerly known as Tec Nic airport, also known as Hon Quan military airport, Quan Loi airport.

Specialized aircraft are helicopters, seaplanes, small flat-wing aircraft, unmanned aircraft using runways made of materials or land or water.

According to this Decree, the Minister of National Defense will decide to approve the location for the construction of the special-use airport after consulting the Ministry of Construction and the People’s Committee of the province where the specialized airport is to be built and agreeing with the Ministry of Transport.

Sectors and localities, when formulating investment projects on construction of works affecting special-use airports, must obtain a written agreement from the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Transport on the influence of aviation obstacles. .

Previously, at the beginning of 2021, Binh Phuoc province proposed that the Government assign the local management to expand the military airport of Hon Quan into a combined civil airport with a scale of 400-500 hectares.
