(SGGPO) – Hanoi focuses on developing suburban districts into urban districts, striving that by 2025, 3-5 suburban districts will develop into urban districts, at the same time researching to expand and upgrade Noi Bai International Airport and expectedly build one more international airport in the South of the Capital.
On May 18, a speech at the National Conference on thoroughly grasping and implementing Resolution No. 06-NQ/TW, dated January 24, 2022, of the Politburo on planning, construction, management and sustainable urban development in Vietnam by 2030, with a vision to 2045, said Mr. Duong Duc Tuan, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee, up to now, Hanoi has basically covered the subdivision planning, detailed planning, and regulations on the management of architecture.
Along with that, the Prime Minister and ministries, departments approved 8 specialized technical infrastructure planning projects in the city. On the basis of the guiding point of view, the development goals and orientations for Hanoi Capital were set out in Resolution No. 06-NQ/TW of the Politburo: “Building the Capital is one of the growth poles of the whole country; develop to become a modern, smart city, leading and creating spillover effects, linking urban areas”, Hanoi will continue to inherit and promote the achievements, focus, and effort to develop Hanoi Capital into a smart, modern city, placed in close relationship with the development of the urban system in the Capital and the whole country, building Hanoi into a driving force for developing the region and country.
To achieve this goal, Hanoi will focus on sticking to Resolution 15 of the Politburo on the orientations and tasks for the development of the Hanoi Capital Region in 2030, vision to 2045; focus on fundamentally and comprehensively amending and supplementing the Law on Capital in order to strengthen hierarchy and decentralization, creating the initiative for Hanoi Capital in handling inter-sectoral and inter-regional issues, having outstanding policies, and thoroughly decentralize to solve problems related to economy, society, planning and urban development… Accelerate the implementation of plans related to socio-economic development association in the area.
Notably, Mr. Duong Duc Tuan also said that Hanoi will focus resources on developing and upgrading the socio-economic infrastructure system in a comprehensive and modern manner. Develop routes connecting with satellite cities and connecting inner and inter-regional regions (such as building, renovating, upgrading and completing radial and ring roads: National Route 1A, National Route 6, Ring Road 1, Ring Road 2, Ring Road 2.5, Ring Road 3, Ring Road 3.5… building urban railways, bridges over the Red River). In particular, Hanoi focuses on developing suburban districts into urban districts, striving to have 3-5 districts develop into districts by 2025; by 2030, 1-2 more districts will be developed into districts.
Research to expand and upgrade Noi Bai International Airport and build one more international airport expected in the southern area of the Capital to meet the requirements of gateway traffic and development of the Capital Region.
At the same time, Hanoi will also focus on investing in the construction of the Ring Road 4 – the Capital Region, considering this a key task that needs to be prioritized, creating a new driving force for the development of central urban areas, satellite urban, expanding the development space for Hanoi, creating the attraction of spreading the population density outside the urban center area.
